　ネット上では批判が飛び交った。脱線した車両の一部を穴に埋めている写真がネットに掲載されると「事故原因を隠蔽するのか」との書き込みが相次ぎ、鉄道省は「車両をつり上げるために必要な作業」と釈明した。

　また、６月から高速鉄道の切符購入には身分証明書の提示が義務付けられたが、今回の事故の身元不明者の一覧は公表されていない。「中国の制度は利用者に不便だけ強いて肝心な時には何の役にも立たない」との批判もあった。

　市内８カ所の病院には負傷者らが搬送された。温州第２人民病院は「午前中に負傷者の搬送は終わった。ただ、中には身元不明の人もいる」と答えた。事故現場近くで身元を確認する窓口が設置された中学校には、近親者の安否を尋ねる温州市民らであふれた。
